Young people

Central has a large number of children and young people and the numbers just keep on growing!

Children and young people activities during the Coronavirus Pandemic period
Our children’s work is going to move online where possible. This will remain a regulated working environment for us so that the young people involved can safely engage and have fun. Updates through facebook or reach out to Jodi, our children and families worker: apchildfamily@brighousecmc.org

Fully involved and engaged in worship, the children usually take part in the first part of Sunday morning services (when they are encouraged to dance and play instruments) before leaving for a while to enjoy their own children’s church.

For all enquiries regarding our children and young people’s ministry please contact Jodi Paige, our children and family worker at: apchildfamily@brighousecmc.org.

There is a wide range of activities for children and young people thought the week, including:

First steps

First steps is a register of all baptisms at Central, with babies and children staying within this remit until they are three, when they are welcomed into Junior Church.

Creche

Babies and under threes are looked after in the hall during the morning service by a willing team of volunteers*, so that mums, dads and carers can stay in the service.

Junior Church

Our children and young people split off into their own activities during the Sunday morning service. Children get involved in age-appropriate activities and discussions led by an experienced team of Sunday School teachers*.

Prayer Circle

On Sunday mornings the children are invited to sit on a colourful mat at the front of Church whilst the preacher or worship leader tells a story and says the prayers. It helps teach the children how to sit still, listen and focus on prayer in a child friendly way.

JMA

Central has 20 collectors raising money all the year round for Junior Missions for All. Why not take a box and join them!

Baby & Toddler Group

Held in the hall on Tuesday and Friday mornings there are over 90 babies and toddlers who regularly attend! A wonderful, yet noisy atmosphere – with Church members* helping with refreshments and setting up. New toddlers, mums, dads, grandparents, childminders are always welcome. Contact Linda XXX) for further information.

Brownies

Explorer Scouts

Christian Initiative in Calderdale Schools (CICS)

CICS is a Christian Trust responsible to and supported by local Churches and individuals in Calderdale. CICS supports Christian schools’ workers who offer help to schools to deliver the Christian message, take assemblies, hold lunchtime clubs, give lessons and have a presence in schools.

* we want to keep our children safe. In order to help look after them well, all teachers and leaders within Central are trained to safeguarding level one. Those working directly with children have an up-to-date ‘Disclosure & Barring Service’ (formally ‘CRB’) check.
